Mary Rutan Foundation
Since its inception in the 1984, Mary Rutan Foundation has been committed to developing resources that provide high quality healthcare to the community. Through the generous financial support of donors the Foundation provides support to Mary Rutan Hospital for new equipment purchases, facility expansions, quality healthcare services, medical scholarships and a variety of community health and wellness programs.
Why Should I Make a Contribution to Mary Rutan Foundation?
Mary Rutan Hospital Foundation receives financial support from community residents, corporations and organizations. These generous contributions are made in memory and honor of loved ones and in support of special programs, services and departments of the hospital. It is through these gifts that together we make a lasting impact on the health care of people in our community.
Charity Care
Mary Rutan Hospital is one of the largest charitable institutions in the area. Over the years we have provided free care for thousands of patients totaling millions of dollars for patients with low incomes who qualify. All patients receive care, regardless of their ability to pay.
Expanded Services and New Technology
As we continually seek opportunities to expand the continuum of health care services, we continue to expand local access to healthcare so patients do not have to leave the area for the care they require. Our new Emergency Department, Physical Rehabilitation Center, Imagine Center and High Point Regional Cancer Center are just a few examples of our commitment to providing quality care, close to home. Without the gifts provided by many donors each year, these large capital projects would not be possible.
Support of Programs or Services
Maybe a specific department or particular service has special meaning to you or your family. Designated gifts are often given to benefit Oncology Services, Cardiovascular Care, Medication Assistance Program, Medical Scholarship Fund, etc.
Tax Advantages
Most donors are able to combine their charitable interests with a tax savings by making a gift to Mary Rutan Foundation. As a 501 (c) 3 not-for-profit organization, cash gifts may be tax deductible. You may also realize substantial tax advantages in your estate planning by including Mary Rutan Foundation in your will. Speak with your financial advisor or attorney for further information regarding these options.
How Do I Contribute to Mary Rutan Foundation?
When you contribute to Mary Rutan Foundation you are making an investment in the health and wellness of our community, your family, friends and neighbors. What ever the size of your gift, your contribution ensures that Mary Rutan Hospital can continue to provide progressive quality health care with a personal touch. There are many ways that you can contribute to the future of health care in our community.
Cash Gifts
Each year, individuals make cash gifts to Mary Rutan Foundation. All amounts are welcome and each gift may be made without restriction or be designated for a hospital service or program.
Matching Gifts
Many employers will match cash gifts that their employees make to nonprofit organizations. Such programs can double or even triple the value of your gift. Check with your employer to see if a matching gift program exists.
Memorial and Honorary Gifts
There’s no better tribute to someone who’s made a difference in your life than to make a difference in the lives of others in their name. A memorial gift is a gift made at the death of an individual in their name and honor. Mary Rutan Foundation acknowledges all gift received in this manner by sending a letter to the next of kin and accompanying listing of all who donated in memory of their loved one. This list includes the donor’s name and address, but does not include the amount of the gift.
Gift of Stocks, Bonds, Real Estate or other Property
These types of gifts are always welcomed by the foundation and may provide the donor substantial tax advantages. Talk with your financial advisor or attorney about the best way to make such a gift.
Wills and Bequests
For many people, this option provides great flexibility, security, and peace of mind. A bequest for Mary Rutan Foundation in your will is a process easily accomplished in your estate planning. You may choose to inform Mary Rutan Foundation of your estate planning or keep your plans confidential.
Trusts and other Planned Gifts
Some people combine their charitable interests with estate planning to create a trust that provides a lifetime income to them and their spouse, provides for their heirs, creates estate tax savings, and results in a substantial gift for Mary Rutan Foundation. Talk with your financial advisor or attorney about options in planning that will meet your needs.
All contributors are listed in the donor section of the hospital’s annual report upon approval of the contributor.
