Laboratory

The Mary Rutan Hospital Laboratory is a full service, fully accredited laboratory consisting of the Clinical Laboratory and Anatomic Pathology with accreditation by the following agencies: CAP, AABB, JCAHO, and CLIA. The laboratory is led by a full time Medical Director and is staffed with professional, caring people committed to providing top quality, cost effective health care. We are staffed 24 hours a day to serve our inpatient population and have extensive outpatient hours for any patients needing testing. 

Included within the laboratory is Anatomic Pathology, headed by Dr. Robert Davis, M.D., PhD. with assistance from Dr. Gerald Penn, M.D., PhD. Anatomic Pathology offers surgical pathology, cytology, histology, autopsy services and an extensive menu of immunohistochemical staining. Dr. Davis and Dr. Penn also perform bone marrow testing and are available for consultations. For more information call 599-7010.


Laboratory Services Available at the High Point Regional Cancer Center
Offering convenient parking and minimal wait times, a Phlebotomist is available on-site at the High Point Regional Cancer Center for laboratory testing. All tests are processed at the Mary Rutan Hospital Laboratory.  Hours of operation for laboratory draws are 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Oncology and non-oncology patients are welcome to utilize the lab during these hours of operation.
