Crawfis Imaging Center.  Our board-certified radiologists are available on-site and have an outstanding reputation for their imaging interpretation skills.

The following services are available at the Radiology Department in Mary Rutan Hospital:

CT Scanning
Computed Axial Tomography or CAT scanning is offered as a diagnositc tool in radiology to examine the head, neck, chest, abdomen, pelvis, and bony structures of the body.  It provides a detailed look inside the human body and is a vital diagnositic tool in medicine today.  Contrast media is sometimes given orally, thru an IV, and sometimes both, to help enhance the detail for the physicians reading these studies and to help provide a quality result for the patient.

Our qualified CAT scan staff is available 24 hours a day to accommodate the needs of both patients and physicians.  In most cases the actual CAT scan procedure takes less than 15 minutes to perform.

Nuclear Medicine
The new nuclear medicine camera serves a broad range of applications in general nuclear medicine for a more accurate and rapid diagnosis.  The gamma camera is equipped with digital High Definition detector techonolgy for high image quality.

Ultrasound
Mary Rutan Hospital offers general small parts, abdominal, and GYN/OB ultrasound procedures.  The Sequoia ultrasound system represents the most advanced technology in ultrasound imaging.  Ultrasound uses high frequency sound waves to produce images.  Each unique technology and innovation is designed to help the physician make more confident and accurate diagnoses, delivering excellent image quality and enhancing workflow, across a broad range of patient types and application.

The following services are available at the Ewing H. Crawfis Imaging Center:

Bone Density
Osteoporosis, the most common human bone disease occurs when bone resorption exceeds bone formation, resulting in reduced bone strength, poor bone quality, and an increased risk of bone fracture.  The Ewing H. Crawfis Imaging Center offers bone densitometry with high-quality and high speed.

Breast Biopsies
The Ewing H. Crawfis Imaging Center's Radiologist performs numerous breast procedures with stereotactic and ultrasound systems.  Breast biopsies, cyst aspirations, and needle localizations are performed by our multidisciplinary team of surgeons, oncologists, radiologists, pathologists and support staff to aid in the ongoing treatment of our patients' breast care.

MRI
A full range of Magnetic Resonance Imaging procedures are offered including multiplanar imaging of the head, neck, chest, abdomen, pelvis, spine and joints.  Spin echo, fast spin echo, gradient echo, fast gradient echo and echo planar sequences can be utilized with administration of MR contrast material as needed.

The Ewing H. Crawfis Imaging Center features a high-field scanner that is open at both ends to reduce the anxiety some patients feel.  The center has dedicated waiting, reception and changing areas for the comfort of both patients, their waiting family members and visitors.

Mammography
The Mary Rutan Hospital Breast Care Program is dedicated to providing personalized, one on one care with dignity, privacy and warmth in a convenient, comfortable and thoroughly professional atmosphere.  Our staff is committed to making your breast care as easy and convenient as possible for you.  We take the time to answer all of your questions to ensure that all women understand and are comfortable with their results.

A baseline mammogram is recommended for women at age 35-40, and routine mammograms every year after age 40.  Early detection is the key to successful treatment of breast cancer.
